HomeWentworth Estate Roads CommitteeWERC Members and Staff

The Wentworth Estate Roads Committee consists of six elected residents:

Alexander Howard (Chairman) has an interest in the responsible improvement and development of the Estate. It shouldn’t be stuck in a time warp nor rush headlong into a new era where the Covenants and restrictions, that make this Estate what it is, are cast aside.  He believs in taking a measured approach that has the buy in of all stake holders, which for the Estate, includes Wentworth Golf Club, developers, local businesses and of course the residents. Alex has the time, interest and energy to devote to being an active and unbiased member of the WERC working for the respectful and sustainable improvement of the Wentworth Estate and its environment.

John Baines has lived on the Estate for approximately 30 years. He is originally from New Zealand and moved to the UK in the early 1980s to expand his packaging business to the UK and Ireland. Since selling his business he now operates a consultancy for international packaging and design companies and runs a Private Investment Fund. John lives on West Drive with his wife Elizabeth and two children Matilda & Zac. John is passionate about the Wentworth Estate and wishes to help make it a harmonious and exclusive place to reside.

Lorna Ponti  has lived on the estate for over 31 years and, throughout that time, has witnessed a great deal of change. What drew her to the area initially was its suburban, tranquil and community atmosphere despite being so close to London and she thinks it is very important that this remains intact.  To achieve this, the safety of the residents is vital and she's pleased to see that progress has been made through a greater number of cameras on the estate and provision of street lighting. Lorna believe's more can be done to help protect the local community and the children within it. On the topic of the community, she is continuing to play an active role by helping to provide better healthcare for residents. In 2006 set up a fund raising event and the proceeds (over £600k) have helped to buy cancer equipment for local hospitals as well as raise awareness through cancer charities.

         Neil Coulson GM Wentworth Club

Chris Robbins  After qualifying as a Chartered Accountant Chris spent most of his career in the Pharmaceutical Industry living and working in 8 different countries over a 25 year period.  In 2004 he and his wife Silvia bought a house in Gorse Hill Road where they still live. Both are active members of the golf club – Chris was Club Captain in 2014 and Silvia was the Ladies Golf Captain in 2019.
Chris believes that the Wentworth Estate is a special place to live and is very keen to play a part in maintaining its special character. By serving on the WERC he can help to achieve that goal. He also believes that the WERC should work in close co-operation with the WRA for the long term benefit of all Wentworth residents.

Mark Lee has lived in Virginia Water for 40 years + with his family. He is originally from London working in asset management, now semi-retired. Having had a long relationship with the Estate and the Wentworth Club witnessing many changes over the years, Mark is committed to making the Estate a safe and harmonious place to live.

In addition, the Committee employs staff consisting of an Estate Manager,  Office Manager and a Maintenance Team of four full time employees.

James Periton who qualified as a Chartered Surveyor in 1997, has been the Estate Manager since 2008. Prior to his appointment he spent 15 years with a local Estate Agent specialising in all aspects of residential property. He reports to the Wentworth Estate Roads Committee regarding maintenance and planning applications for developments on the Estate. Over two spells he has lived in Virginia Water for over 35 years.
